You can e-mail me at yuugi.desu(at)gmail(dot)com if you have several questions. Here's some of the most frequently asked questions I get:

Q:

When does CotN update?

A:

CotN updates Mondays, but currently it's updating very slowly because I'm busy with work and finishing my degree, so I suggest you follow updates through the RSS, but I also announce them on twitter, tumblr and facebook.

Q:

How do you draw your comic? What kind of materials do you use?

A:

I currently draw the pages digitally using a Wacom Intuos Pro 4. I pencil and ink with Paint Tool SAI and apply screentones with Deleter Comicworks..

Q:

Will you ever print CotN?

A:

I have no plans to do a physical print of the comic, but I'm planning to revise the art and dialogue on older chapters and sell them as a 1-3 chapter bundles digitally as PDF's. Eventually, I hope to sell each volume digitally with revised art/dialogue and a new extra scene.

Q:

What inspired your art style and the storyline for COTN?

A:

For the art style it's just inspirations and influences over the years, mixed with developing a style of my own. For the storyline, the first plot idea came to me over ten years ago when I was really into the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, but mostly from Dracula where there's actual vampire hunters. The title of the webcomic even comes from a line from Dracula. This story is as much about vampires as it is about vampire hunters. Another influence are Victorian romance novels like Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre (I love the Bront sisters). Mostly, CotN is an amalgam of everything I like in a story: romance, drama, action, sword fights, etc.

Q:

How long does it take you to draw a page?

A:

It takes quite a lot of time to complete a page, especially if it's complicated with a lot of characters and details. On average a page takes about 10 hours to complete.

Q:

I think I've discovered some plot holes, like: how come the hunters don't wipe out all the vampires? Are you ever going to cover that?

A:

CotN is a very long story that only updates once a week. Please be patient as the story develops. I take great care in world building as it is one of my favorite parts of writing, so don't worry, all questions will get their answers at the appropriate time. If you are really curious about something and just can't wait, you can ask me via tumblr. If it's not a spoiler I'll be glad to answer and elaborate.

Q:

Will you link my comic?

A:

I don't do link exchanges per request, since I'd like to promote only works I read. However if you think I'll like your comic, feel free to e-mail me, but keep in mind I might not have the time to read it.
